Classics is the oldest discipline in the Humanities, and remains essential to many fields in the liberal arts.  Based on Greek and Latin literature, it includes the study of ancient art, architecture, history, mythology, and philosophy.  Studying classics will teach you a lot about why our world is the way it is, and perhaps inspire you to make it better.  Housed in Foreign Languages, the program includes faculty from five different departments.  In addition to Greek and Latin, courses are offered in various aspects of classical civilization, and study abroad options in Greece and Italy are available.
